We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Leanne Cusack, the new principal of St. Edward School! Below is an introductory letter:
My name is Leanne Cusack, and I am incredibly honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of St. Edward Catholic School!
I’ve spent the last 19 years deeply rooted in education—15 of those years as an Elementary and Special Education teacher, and the past four as a Curriculum Coordinator in the Dunlap School District. In that role, I had the privilege of researching best practices in literacy and math, providing professional development for teachers, ensuring classrooms were equipped with the tools and resources students need to thrive, and helping build a positive, collaborative culture across the district.
My favorite part of being an educator is inspiring others to know that they belong, they matter, and they are worthy of success simply because they are wonderfully made by God.
I’m so excited to bring that passion and experience to St. Edward. I look forward to getting to know each student, family, and staff member—and simply being present together as we learn, grow, and lead in faith every day. Academics, relationships, and a faith-filled environment are my top priorities. But truly, what a gift it will be to simply share this special moment in time at our K-8 school—walking alongside one another to help your children grow. It’s an absolute honor.
On a personal note, I’m married to my super-supportive and creative husband, Andy, and we are blessed with three amazing boys—Calvin (14), Henry (10), and Leo (6)—all St. Philomena students, with Calvin transitioning to IVC High School this fall. Our home is also filled with love from two dogs, Denali and Maggie, and one very independent cat, Vallejo. When I’m not at school, you’ll likely find me hanging with my family, doing yoga, weightlifting, hiking, floating on a lake, trying a new clean cooking recipe, or enjoying a spiritual book.
I can’t wait to begin this journey with you. There’s so much I look forward to sharing—and even more I look forward to learning about each of YOU. I officially begin my role on July 1st, and you’ll be hearing more from me then. In the meantime, I’m grateful for the partnership and support of Mr. Finch, who is helping ensure a smooth transition.
